Searching for High School Heroes!

HERO – An ordinary person dedicating their time and effort to make a positive impact on others and their community.

Our Winners This Quarter

Congratulations to Sutton Gore! She’s the first recipient of our High School Heroes scholarship for students serving their community. A senior at Westminster Christian Academy, Sutton founded a program called  TALK, an acronym for Teens Activating the Language of Kindness. Barnes Heyward teamed up with Sutton’s mom, Leada DeVaney Gore to surprise Sutton with her award.

Sutton invests 16 hours weekly mentoring more than 130 elementary and middle school students at Westminster. Her program focuses on building self-esteem by breaking the cycle of negative self-talk coupled with the prevention of bullying. We couldn’t be more proud to announce her as our first winner and have more to share about her program soon!
